By targeting unborn babies which are still in the womb of the mother, nourishing them with proper care, hygiene, excellent nutritional supplies, accurate medicines, specific protection, we could increase the prevention rate of mental retardness from the early stages itself. Avoiding unplanned pregnancies also an ideal suggestion and option, pregnant mothers could make inorder to avoid giving birth to mentally retarded children by abusive care, ill nutrition supply and many such socio economic reasons which affects the unborn baby in a much earlier stage and stopping this is the best way to give way to a healthy community.
Education: sex education should be embedded to adolescent girls which help them understand the complications of unprotected sex. Improper nutrition intake leads to development of unhealthy as well as underdeveloped brain in the baby. Providing rich nutrition supply is the best way to prevent mental retardness in unborn baby.
Usage of Iodized salt: Iodized salt, from which iodine is derived by the body, plays a major role in brain development. If your diet is devoid of iodized salt, there is no chance that your unborn baby could get the required iodine for its brain development. Imbalance in iodine leads to improper brain development which is the cause of mental disorders especially mental retardness. You could prevent mental retardness to a greater extent by intake of iodized salt in food.
Folic Acid administration: women should be administered folic acid in their early pregnancy. Folic acid plays an intrinsic biochemical mechanism in the brain development. The chances of its survival is very less, if by chance the fetus survives, it will be born with all the possible mental and physical disorders. Prevention of damage caused by Rh incompatibility is easily diagnosed by a medical professional within earlier stage of pregnancy.
Immunization for children: children should be immunized against all the deadly diseases. It is parent’s responsibility to take the children for regular medical checkups and inspections. Inorder to avoid mental retardness or any sort of mental disorder every child should be immunized with vaccines. Children’s immune system develops only after 2 years from their birth.
